Each of the 31 figures starts as a small ball of polymer clay that Nell shapes entirely by hand — no molds, so no two figures ever come out exactly alike. Once she's happy with the shape and expression, she lets it air-dry before curing it in an oven the same way Fimo hardens, then finishes it with a hand-painted face using a single detail brush. The countdown box itself is printed cardboard with 31 numbered doors.
