Each lamp is cut by hand by Marguerite Vance in Ipswich, Massachusetts: 213 separate pieces of stained glass, 84 of them in the hat alone, wrapped in copper foil and joined with a millimetre-and-a-half solder seam — the Tiffany method she has used on church windows since 1985.
